I believe the issue affecting your system is one that we've been talking about in the Community. Our team have been collecting information and are currently waiting on a firmware update from LG and Sony to address the problem.

Thank you for your patience so far. Share Tweet Share Share. Miles P. Hello bumble, thanks for that diagnostic report. We can see two main issues here. First, the Sonos system seems to have some issues staying connected to your wireless network.

Are you using any wireless boosters or extenders in your household?

Why Does My Subwoofer Make a Popping Noise?

Can you tell us the source you are using with that TV? I have the exact same problem and television.I bought my husband a 40" samsung tv for Christmas. There is a popping sound whenever the channel is changed and sometimes even when it is not being changed.

Shall I return it or call for service. I am still within the 30 days of purchase. I did not take an extended warranty and don't want to be stuck with a lemon. What do you mean by "popping noise"? I know plasmas make noise when the temprature changes, whether on or off.

They crackle and pop as the parts contract and expand. While it sounds scary its perfrectly normal I guess. Now if your taking about a popping noise that comes from the speakers when you change channels that is something different. Before you return the tv though I would try to verify that its not a cable box or something if you use one. I would aslo check all the input connections to make sure they are on correctly and tight. A loose RF connection could possibly cause this I think.

Otherwise if you have concerns about it by all means return it before you don't the have the option. Paul, thank you for your help. The noise happens all the time when we change channels, some of the time when we change volume and once in a while just for nothing.

It's not like that crackle noise that happens sometimes when you turn on electronics. We will recheck all cables and then probably return it if nothing changes. Thanks again. If you don't it will always be in the back of your head. It happens most often when changing channels, but sometimes happens when I change from watching a recorded show back to live TV. I don't know what causes it, but it hasn't done anything bad to my TV. Do you think static electricity could be the root of our problem?

I heard that many TVs emit small electrical charges sometimes. Who knows?! I had a problem like this when I first moved in my apartment and basically the voltage would spike up to volts and I am not sure what it did but hte amplifier was pushing more wattage or transferring that voltage to the speakers causing them to Pop or have the voicecoil extend past its normal range also causing a lot of distortion. It was old 2 wire that was in the house and I replaced it with 3 wire and also got rid of the circuit breaker and replace that with a new one and never had a problem again.

Experience popping when changing channels or when changing settings in the DVR. However, I cannot find these settings. Take the soundbar out of the mix and the TV does not experience any popping.

My soundbar makes a strange sound using an optical connection

This tells me that this cannot be the STB but the manufacturer says it is. Go to Solution. Thanks for the response. Changing the audio format to stereo did not help so I tried your advice but could not view any HDMI settings under settings, audio settings, audio format.

If it is in a different area let me know. Tried doing this with both the TV off and on but still no luck. Any more helping getting access to those settings would be helpful. I am finding out that this is not uncommon and that it is the different signals from station to station going from L-PCM to DD. Man you are a genius! Got into the new settings. It looks as though changing audio to L-PCM did the trick. No more popping! It was set on AUTO.

I have concluded that Verizon's STB have a different setting than other companies since others do not experience this. Not sure why the default is not L-PCM considering the multitude of audio systems out there. Vizio's soundbar has its own amplifier and is not compatible with the Motorola in the default audio settings. I suppose if I had a receiver to control the audio then I probably wouldn't have had the problem.

I agree with Gaza - thank you this solved the problem. One word for others Do you hold and release each button or hold them as you press the next button?

Do you have night speech enabled? Could it be something like that doing it? Yeah mines surrounds and playbar are all doing this when listening to tv audio, I noticed this started happening the day I update my sonos software so is possibly a software bug? Should probs contact sonos. Ryan S. Did Samsung give you a future solution?

A future firmware for TV or soundbar that will fix the problem? Netflix from the TV crackles and when I play blu-ray it carckles. No crackles from watching TV. I made an interesting discovery: I played a movie from Netflix but using the blu-ray app- NO crackles. This means my internet connection is fine and the soundbar is fine.

And I could but my concern is that the new TV and soundbar will have the same problem. Much to my disappointment before long there were the crackles again even though using the app through the blu-ray. So that does not work either. I switched off 24P on blu-ray and switched off BD Wise.

At first no crackles so I thought I had cracked it but took the disc out and re-inserted and there were the damn crackles again. I am almost tempted to get rid of the whole lot and go for a Sony system before my 28 days of purchase is over.

I recently purchased Samsung series 60" and then tried connectiong the samsung soundbar HW-F via Soundshare and I immediately get a crackling sound while watching Directv. I do not hear the crackling over bluetooth when played by my phone and do not hear when I connect the tv by an HDMI cable. Were you able to resolve the crackling issue from the Soundshare?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I was on the phone with Samsung for over an hour last night and they could not help me. Surprisingly, a very high quality sound apart from a hiss in the background. I disconnected the soundbar from the TV and streamed a movie from Netflix- no crackles that I could detect from the TV speakers turned up to the max.

I rang Samsung again today but Liam could not speak. The more people contact Samsung the better. Hopefully, they will come up with a solution. He said there was going to be a meeting this afternoon about this problem but he said "don't expect a major breakthrough".

Anyone: if you use an HDMI cable, do you get the problem? Is the sound quality as good as Soundshare ignoring the carckles? Fingers crossed Samsung will come up with a reasonable solution. I hope it is just a firmware update. I still think more people need to phone through to get Samsung moving on this. What a mess, how can they market a product when it has a generic problem?

It is like selling a car and then say don't drive at night because the lights won't work. Is it worth returning and trying a new one? I have spoken to Samsung numerous times and they can't even comprehend what I am describing.

Their only solution is to mail them the brand new sound bar I just bought, which clearly makes no sense. They also have no way of connecting me to this Liam person.

Poor guy sounded very stressed. At least they know there is a problem.Menu Menu. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread. Search titles only. Search Advanced search…. Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.
